Julie Goodin, CPA
Owner & Sole Practitioner
Julie Goodin is a seasoned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 20 years of experience in financial and tax accounting across a diverse range of industries. Julie earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before moving to the St. Louis, Missouri area. After gaining valuable experience in tax and financial accounting in public accounting, Julie focused her career in corporate accounting and grew to a CFO position.
With a passion for numbers and problem-solving, Julie enjoys the intricate puzzles that accounting presents. Beyond professional practice, she has shared this passion through teaching with faculty positions at Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville, IL) and McKendree University (Lebanon, IL). This teaching experience enhanced her proficiency in explaining complex accounting concepts to non-accountants. Teaching also deepened Julie's understanding of accounting standards, ensuring she stays adept at both practical applications and theoretical principles.​
Whether navigating complex accounting standards, or guiding businesses through financial challenges, Julie is dedicated to delivering insightful, effective, and tailored accounting solutions to meet each client’s unique needs.
The Elephant
"BSE" stands for "Big Sexy Elephant". The name stems from an ongoing joke between BSE's owner, Julie Goodin, and her husband based on Julie's favorite TV sitcom, The King of Queens. In the episode titled "Window Pain", the wife and husband are fighting and make funny references to an elephant. Later in the episode, the wife lovingly calls her husband "my big sexy elephant".

It's given my husband and I something to connect with as a couple and brings humor to our relationship. When I started BSE Accounting, I wanted a name that makes me smile every time I say it. It not only brings a smile to my face but also provides fond memories of my family. Who wouldn't want to start and end their workday like that?!?" ~ Julie Goodin
